NRA FIRST Steps Rifle Orientation


Firearm Instruction, Responsibility, and Safety Training — is the NRA’s response to the American public’s need for a firearm orientation program for new purchasers.

This class is an introduction to basic rifle handling and safety for those who have no experience with rifle shooting. The class will teach rifle safety, components and operation, introduction to ammunition, fundamentals of shooting skills, equipment care and cleaning. Students receive training, manuals, use of .22 LR rifles, .22 LR ammo, targets, range fees, eye and ear protection. A total of 8 hours will be split between 4 hour classroom lecture/demonstrations, 4 hr simulation and live fire shooting on the range. The class is from 8am to 12pm on Saturday and Sunday.

The course fees are $150.00 per person, payable online by credit card (via Amazon Instant Pay) or by check or money order, no later than two weeks prior to the scheduled date of the course.
