This is a two day clinic that is open exclusively to women. Any female student under the age of 18-years-old must be accompanied by her parent or legal guardian. Space is limited to nine students and pre-registration is required. Comfortable clothing and shoes are suggested since the range is an outdoor facility. Ear and eye protection are mandatory at all times while on the firing line. The .22 caliber handguns, ammunition, targets, hearing protection, and safety glasses are all included in your registration fee. Please, no walk-ins.
The cost is $125/student. Fees are due two weeks after registration.
The purpose of this clinic is to introduce basic pistol handling and safety to women who have had no experience with pistol shooting. Taught in a comfortable environment where students are encouraged to ask questions and dispel any preconceived anxieties they may have about guns.
The class will teach pistol safety, components and operation, introduction to ammunition, fundamentals of shooting skills, and equipment care. Students receive training, manuals, use of .22 LR pistols (semi auto and revolver), .22 LR ammo, targets, range fees, eye and ear protection. A total of 8 hours will be split between 4 hour classroom lecture/demonstrations, 2 hr simulation and 2 hr shooting on the range. You will use only the ammunition and .22 caliber pistols provided by the instructors.
Students are eligible to take the California Firearm Safety Certification (required for purchase of any firearm in California) for an additional $25 upon completion of the class.
Male students wishing to learn basic pistol are directed to the First Steps courses offered monthly at the range.
Since the range is under the jurisdiction of the San Mateo Sheriff’s Department, live fire instruction is limited to the hours of 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Sunday. The remainder of the class will be devoted to lecture and discussion.
For general questions prior to registration, please feel free to email the class administrator (email@example.com)
